Monitoring of Services (468)

Few days ago one of the servers did not responded to map requests. So we raised a ticket via HelpDesk. HelpDesk has reacted instantly (thanks) and told us, that they have had to restart. By this the issue was solved.

According to HelpDesk there was no warning or error by monitoring-system, so there was no possibility to act proactively.

Our concerns are, that it might be possible that monitoring is not able to detect certain error-states. Does anybody have further details or was facing a similar situation?

Hello Rolf,

ATTENTION: your initial post refers to an individual cloud service. Please be aware that the monitoring of standard clouds at xServer INTERNET informs all standard users in a proper way - too

this task has been redirected to my colleagues who are responsible for our AZURE environment.
Please let us know which service you refer to. I know that you access more than just the standard cloud services named PTV xServer INTERNET. Maybe your dedicated clouds require different treatment (as some other colleagues deal with them).

By the way: In case of an error the PRODUCTION services are triggering email notifications to the registered email addresses who have access to PROD.

Best regards Bernd

Dear Bernd,

thank you for your quick reply - I appreciate that.

Your are right. It is one of the others. I didn't realize that there might be differences in monitoring, too.

Dear Rolf,
in general, PTV xServer Internet provide a productive system with a service level agreement and 24/7 monitoring for all offered features. Please note, that the standard product "PTV xServer Internet" and the custom solutions are totally different systems.

Regards

Marco

Hi there,

was informed about this Microsoft Azure Status page recently.
Outside PTV but interesting anyway. In some cases such as DNS troubles we also look into those reports to check whether it was an issue in the Azure backend.

Best regards,
Bernd
