PM Announces: New Static Speeds - FAQ PTV xServer

Postby Bernd Welter » Fri Jul 20, 2018 6:36 am

Hi there,

the major content of this post is the product managements announcement of the new static speed values which are relevant in the scope of routing with future servers and maps. Please take some of your time to review the articles. As earlier as you do understand the news the better you can react. Feel free to get back to us if needed.

Best regards and many thanks to our product manager Steffen for the article,

Bernd

What do I have to do to get the new map and speeds?

The new speed values will be introduced with the Europe City Map 2019.1 from HERE and TomTom. If you receive the map via Download Link you will find a zip-file called “Profiles_xServer[VersionNumber]_DataVersion2.zip”. Within this file you can find the new profiles which should be used for the new maps. See the following manual pages for detailed information:

Profiles API Version 1

Profiles API Version 2

What happens if the profile and map versions differ?

If the version for profile and map versions do not match the PTV xServer won’t start and leave a message in the log files. Check the links mentioned above for more information.

Will my system be automatically updated?

If you are an on-premise customer, you must manually change your PTV xServer vehicle profiles after the map update is released. This can be done at your own leisure. For PTV xServer Internet customers, you will have the new profiles automatically installed with the map update.

When will the update be available?

The new speed values will be introduced with the PTV Europe City Map 2019.1 from HERE and TomTom

Can I take a look at the new speeds beforehand?

Yes, you can already test the new maps and speeds now. Please contact your sales representative for more information.

Will I be able to continue to use the old vehicle profiles or do I have to switch?

The vehicle profiles will stay compatible with the new map versions but since the base speed values of the map changed, they will produce different driving times. To get more accurate results, we strongly recommend either to use the new standard vehicle profiles or change your custom vehicle profiles accordingly. For PTV xServer Internet customers, you will have the new profiles automatically installed with the map update for the Europe City Map 2019.1.

Can I still use my individual profiles?

Yes, you can still use individual profiles. However, this requires some adjustments. Please contact our support (support.de@xserver.ptvgroup.com) to learn more.

Is it still possible to create individual profiles?

Yes, it is still possible to create individual profiles.

Who can I contact if I need help or have further questions?

Please contact your sales representative or our support team (support.de@xserver.ptvgroup.com).
