Partial toll calculation [rendez-vous]

This forum deals with any kind of routing computation whether it is simple A:B-routing, calculation of isochrones, simple matrix computation or nearest search.

Partial toll calculation [rendez-vous]

Post by valdasb »

Hello there,

We'd like to simulate rendez-vous on (italian) highways:
  • Two drivers meet at a highway parking and exchange trailers.
  • The total route of driver A produces about 220 € of toll (start=>highway parking=>destination)
  • When we calculate the two partial routes (start=>highway parking) + (highway parking=>destination) the sum of the toll prices is just 50 €
  • So there's a big gap of 170 €

Is it possible to model this scenario properly in xRoute 1?
Will this be possible in xRoute 2? When?

Hello Valdas,

Here's some response from DEV regarding your questions dealing with the rendez-vous:
If you compare
- the partial routes start2parking + parking2destination
- the complete route start2destination
at least one toll section part is missing. This works as designed because with the partial routes the engine doesn't recognize where you enter or leave the toll section. We can't just replace the missing part. THis is a generic issue that occurs bith in xRoute 1 and xRoute 2.
In a rendez-vouz context (both trucks exchange the trailers) we don't even know the expectations of a client. These dynamically reassembled vehicles change their properties on a trip and then they leave towards some destinations outside the toll sections.
What makes the situation even more difficult is that - at least at the moment - xRoute2 does not yet offer to change a vehicles attributes on an inner waypoint (which is possible within xRoute 1).
No proper solution, no answer you wanted to get - just forwarded and translated what I received.
