This forum deals with any kind of routing computation whether it is simple A:B-routing, calculation of isochrones, simple matrix computation or nearest search.

Differences between TLN Planner and own application

Post by rzwets »

Hi,
within our company we use two PTV based applications: the TLN Planner web application and a custom application based on xServer.
Sometimes routing results of the two applications differ.
What is the reason for this?
How can we ensure both applications return comparable results; in other words how can we configure Xserver in such a way that the outcome of both applications are the same?

Hello Robert,

The only supported profiles are the profiles listed in the application TLNplanner Internet:

These are the literal names of the profiles. When meeting the following pre-requisites:

- Usage of the “TLNplanner Europe City 2019.2H” map (not the regular PTV Europe City Map Premium 2019.2H) map
- Usage of one of the above vehicle profiles, as delivered in a .zip file for local xServer environments
- Usage of the latest toll update via CUS

Calculations are guaranteed to be the same. Obviously there is a chance that customers do not know this / do not follow this set of rules specifically, hence we strongly aim to get customers to use our xServer Internet TLNplanner cluster via the “tln-eu-n” service url.

All map/vehicle data can be requested via support.nl@xserver.ptvgroup.com, we’ll provide a http://ptv-nl-logistics-download.ptvgroup.com download link.

We are actively pushing customer towards xServer internet on this topic because we have so many problems with customers not staying fully up to date with local installations that we only mention local installation as a last resort with caveats about staying up to date.

Best regards,
Bernd
