How to determine whether a certficate change affects me?

Hi guys,

about once per year our system admins replace the HTTPS certificate on the cloud services. Registered users get a notification about what to do in their environment but some of them get back to me with questions such as

- how do I know whether I am affected?
- what are the circumstances that describe the affected environments?

Can I get a description that helps them to get rid of their fears and doubts?
